Let There Be Light

I just thought this light by Marc Sadler at Foscarini was so cool. I saw it in the March 2010 issue of How Magazine. I love interesting patterns of light and shadow and the patterns of light emitted from this lamp must be spectacular. For me, this light juxtaposes a complex positive/negative space with clean line simplicity. It comes in multiple shapes and all of them have the same beautiful lines and play with light.

We Love Football

Not only are we ready, we love football … playing or watching. Our living room floor might as well be a football field, because we basically have a daily game. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. ;) So with piles of football pictures in hand, I have started creating layouts about our household’s favorite past-time. This one is Play Action Pass. I have wanted to create a layout that played with 3-D space or the z-axis, but was having trouble coming up with a subject that would work. Then it hit me, football! What better way to have something flying through 3-dimensional space than a ball. Using the Random Tear template really amplified the feeling of the ball bursting through the background. I thought having the play schematic x’s and o’s coming towards the viewer with the football would be a fun touch.

Dare Ya

Dare #167: Use 5 emotions, the color red and at least 1 Valentine symbol to create a layout about emotion. (photos optional) I’ve been meaning to get one of these done for awhile and I finally did. Here is my layout about the ever changing moods of a preschooler.

Journaling reads: Such is the life of a “ferocious four-year old.” In a span of minutes, you can hit a wide range of emotions. It amazes me, how fast you can go from silly to angry, to hurt, to sad & then to happy. You are sort of an emotional time-bomb … at any given moment, we have no idea what you will be feeling. It keeps us on our toes as you navigate the world of human emotions and discover how to manage them. No matter what you feel, we will always be here for our little cutie.

This layout is what popped into head when I read the challenge. You can check out all the cool dares and get in on the action yourself at Digi Dares.

15 Seconds of Fame

“In the future, everyone in the world will be famous for 15 minutes.” – Andy Worhol

So goes the famous quote. Some people seek it out and others, fame just finds them. I don’t think I fall into either of those categories, but when ESPN’s College Game Day TV crew came knocking on our tailgate party, I figured why the heck not. I guess the crew saw a fun possibility, when they saw the lone Gopher fan in the sea of orange. So there I was, yelling for my team while the crowd yelled back for the other. We didn’t think much of it, until someone who had been at the tailgate said it ran as the opening segment for the game. For once, I was glad the games get taped in our house, so I would be able to see it. So this layout came out of that moment. Even though it was more like 15 seconds, I think it counts. :) Not really a glamour shot, but a fun reminder of the day, well at least for me, since the Gophers won.

I thought I would share a layout using the Assemble Your Own: Alpha Charms. I loved the bathing suit she has on in this photo when I saw it in the store. She didn’t need it, but it was so happy looking and screamed summer with it’s bold-colored thin stripes, so I bought it. She only wore it this one time, for she outgrew it instantly. :( So, here’s to the super cute bathing suit and having fun in the summer sun.

Let It Snow

Here’s a layout made with the Winter Wonderland collection available at Scrapgirls.com. This was the first snowman the kids ever made. We just haven’t had enough snow to actually make one until this day. The kids were very excited, although I’m not sure which was the best, the snowman or the hot chocolate afterward.
